Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at YDE
August 2021
Youth Dance Ensemble is committed to provide dance education in an environment where participants, members, and staff can thrive and feel supported. We will honor, nurture, and advance dance in our community through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our programming.
Our organization will continue efforts to ensure inclusion in our dance community regardless of race, nationality, religion, culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical ability, parental status, or socioeconomic background.
Our organization is committed to be introspective of the greater community we serve. We will recognize the importance of all voices in our community, and will work to create welcoming experiences that connect, inspire, and enrich our students.
Our organization will empower students to speak with staff or directors when witnessing racist and non-inclusive speech or activities.
Youth Dance Ensemble will communicate with transparency and clarity, understanding that critical feedback during class/rehearsals is an important aspect of dance training. We will ensure that staff and teaching artists will provide feedback that is constructive, age appropriate, enlightening, and respectful.
Youth Dance Ensemble has demonstrated a commitment in providing access to dance education with a history of inclusivity and diversity. We are grateful to our students, families, and partner organizations for their continued commitment to share the love and beauty of dance.
